One City/One Future

To develop a shared vision for more accountable and sustainable economic development in New York City, New York Jobs with Justice initiated a long-term collaboration called One City/One Future in partnership with the National Employment Law Project and the Pratt Center for Community Development.

We brought together leading civic organizations in New York City to shape an alternative model for economic development, where growth delivers living wage jobs, affordable housing, environmental sustainability and livable neighborhoods.

The One City/One Future project began through a series of educational strategy sessions called ReDefining Economic Development NYC in 2004, and produced a report in 2009 highlighting concrete policy recommendations for making our city a better place to live and work. The collaboration also hosted a city-wide forum, which brought together hundreds of elected officials, advocates and grassroots leaders, to put our ideas into action.
